Rowleys launches new GP consultancy service

30th June 2022

Rowleys has launched a new service delivering tailored practice management consultancy for General Practices (GPs), in response to demand for experienced support and knowledge in an increasingly complex and pressured environment.

Practice management professional and qualified management accountant, Kate Hunter has been appointed to lead the new service. She has over 25 years’ experience in the NHS, including 10 years in practice management.

Kate joins Rowleys from Latham House Medical Practice – one of the largest single-site practices in the country with 36,000 patients, 12 partners and 140 staff – where she was Executive Manager. Kate has also worked in Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and their predecessors.

Kate will provide both strategic and tactical support to GPs, including financial support – governance, profitability analysis, viability and forecasting; GP management – day to day operations, project support, demand and capacity modelling and staffing structures; and training – inductions, finance training, mentoring, group training.

“I’ve worked in the healthcare sector and primary care for a number of years and general practice is where my passion lies. I enjoy managing a business, making a difference and making change happen, which can happen quickly in general practice.” explains Kate.

“General practice is an increasingly complex environment, with national and local expectations of increased capacity and more services being delivered through primary care.

“Many practices have been focused on the basic practice provisions during the pandemic and are now not only expected to return to pre-pandemic levels of activity and service delivery, but also face increasing pressures to deliver more.

“This increasing pressure, coupled with a shortage of experienced practice managers means that there is an increasing demand for experienced support for GPs, which is what Rowleys’ new service will provide.”

Paula Swann-Jones, Partner and member of the specialist medical team at Rowleys, says: “We are delighted to welcome Kate to Rowleys. Her substantial experience in general practice allows us to continue to grow and expand our service offering.

“Rowleys already has a strong reputation in the medical sector for providing financial and accounting support, so it makes sense for us to offer existing and new clients these extra services and to provide additional support to help them deal with increasing pressures and complexities.

Kate adds: “Rowleys has a solid reputation for their medical accounting services, in particular their focus on ethics and getting things rights. I’m delighted to be joining a team I’ve always respected. The practice management consultancy and support services meets a growing demand in the market and I’m looking forward to using my experience to provide valuable support to GPs.”
