Life at Rowley’s – Hollie Harvey-Rowley

16th May 2023

Hollie Harvey-Rowley is an Audit & Accounts Trainee at Rowleys. Here Hollie shares more about her role and life at Rowleys.

Tell us more about your current role at Rowleys

In my current role, I get hands-on experience in audit and accounts, alongside completing my qualifications at college.

What type of clients/projects have you been working on?

I work with a range of clients from dogwalkers to building companies.

I have recently started to get involved in limited company accounts, which are a little more difficult than partnerships and sole traders.

What’s the training and development like at Rowleys?

Rowleys uses a training provider called Kaplan, an apprenticeship provider that provides on-demand and live lessons. This formal learning takes place alongside client projects. The combination of hands-on experience and formal training allows me to gain real experience that I can also apply in my exams. Rowleys is a friendly and supportive place to work. There are senior and more experience trainees that we can turn to for support and advice, which really helps with confidence.

What’s the support like from Rowleys?

The support is great at Rowleys. There are a lot of trainees on the team, and we always help each other when we need it. There are also a number of more experienced people who we can turn to for advice and support if needed.

What’s next for you or what are you looking to achieve in your role?

I am hoping to start AAT Level 4 next year. My long-term plan, with Rowleys support, is to become AAT and ACCA qualified. I’m also keen to gain more audit experience.

What’s the team like at Rowleys?

Everyone at Rowleys is really nice. People are always happy to help if needed. We also have a great social committee that plans a range of activities such as bowling nights, quiz nights and even race days! This allows us to socialise with everyone and creates a friendly atmosphere amongst the team.

What about work/life balance?

Work/ life balance is something that is very important to the firm. A healthy work/life balance is encouraged.

What’s the best thing about working at Rowleys?

The best thing about working at Rowleys is the people. I always feel supported in any decision or problem I face. Also, I feel challenged at work which makes me feel proud when I complete tasks or learn new things.

When you’re not at work, where can you be found/what do you like to do?

When I’m not at work I can always be found socialising with friends (or my dog!!). I also love to cook and I am always finding new recipes to make for my family.
