The Chancellor has delivered the first Budget of the Coalition Government. The need for the Emergency Budget was described as "unavoidable" by the Chancellor and was set against a background of a massive deficit and the risk of the UK credit rating being reduced.

There is a lot of speculation about the likely proposals following the new Coalition Government.  It is reported that an emergency budget will be held on 22 June 2010.

The Chancellor has delivered his last Budget before the General Election. In a political speech, The Chancellor stated that his Budget was a Budget of choices.

The government has published its report Digital Britain which sets out the government's plans for the UK to be at the forefront of the global digital economy.
